White Hart Lydgate Wedding Photographer
Martha & Sam’s wedding at The White Hart Lydgate was one of those days that just reminds you why you love being a wedding photographer in the first place. From the second I arrived, there was this proper buzz in the air—laughter, a bit of chaos, loads of excitement, and all those little moments that make a wedding day feel real. As a White Hart Lydgate wedding photographer, these are exactly the kinds of days I love—relaxed, full of personality, and completely true to the couple.
The morning prep was everything you’d want it to be. Martha was surrounded by her friends, music on, everyone getting ready together, and that mix of calm and excitement building as the ceremony got closer. Those behind-the-scenes moments are always some of my favourites to capture—the makeup touch-ups, fastening buttons, last-minute checks, and those “don’t trip!” laughs that happen without anyone really noticing. It’s all part of the story, and it sets the tone for the whole day.
Martha looked incredible—everything came together perfectly without feeling overdone. The dress, the shoes, the bouquet… all spot on, but still very her. That’s always the sweet spot. Meanwhile, Sam was having his own moments of anticipation, and I love capturing that contrast between the two sides of the morning. It all builds into something really special once everything comes together.
The White Hart Lydgate is such a brilliant wedding venue, especially if you’re after that relaxed countryside feel with loads of character. Set just outside Manchester, it’s got those beautiful rustic features—wooden beams, stone walls, cosy interiors—alongside incredible views over the surrounding hills. It’s one of those venues that just works so well for natural wedding photography because there’s so much texture, light, and space to play with.
The ceremony itself was full of emotion, but in that really easy, natural way. Nothing overly formal or stiff—just lots of smiles, a few happy tears, and plenty of laughter. You could really feel how much it meant to everyone in the room, and those are always the moments that make for the best, most genuine photos.
After the ceremony, everything flowed straight into a relaxed drinks reception. Guests were chatting, laughing, and just enjoying being together, which is always where the magic happens. I kept things low-key, blending in and capturing those candid moments as they unfolded—no interruptions, no staging, just letting the day do its thing.
We snuck off for a few couple portraits later on, keeping it super chilled. Nothing too long, just a short wander to make the most of the grounds and those amazing views around White Hart Lydgate. The light was perfect as the sun started to dip, which meant we got some really soft, natural images—and yeah, I couldn’t resist throwing in a few black and white shots too. There’s just something about them that hits differently.
Inside, the reception had such a warm, welcoming vibe. The styling was soft and relaxed, with guests in blush pink tones, loads of personal touches, and that kind of atmosphere where everyone just feels comfortable. The speeches were full of emotion and humour (always a winning combo), and it didn’t take long before the dance floor started filling up.
As the evening went on, things got exactly how you want them—busy dance floor, loads of energy, and everyone just fully enjoying themselves. Those are the moments where I’m constantly moving, capturing all the action, the laughs, and the slightly chaotic dance moves that always make the best memories.
Martha & Sam’s wedding at The White Hart Lydgate was such a perfect example of what a relaxed, natural wedding day can look like. No pressure, no overthinking—just a day full of love, laughter, and proper good moments. The venue brought all the charm and scenery, but it was these two (and their people) that really made it what it was.
As a Manchester and North West wedding photographer, these are the kinds of weddings I love being part of. Real, fun, a bit messy in the best way—and completely unforgettable.
