Shottle Hall Wedding
Derbyshire Wedding Photographer
Amy & Jay got married at the absolutely gorgeous Shottle Hall in Derbyshire, and honestly, it suited them down to the ground. Shottle Hall has such a great mix of things going on—it’s got that grand country house feel for guests arriving, but it still keeps a really relaxed, easy atmosphere thanks to the beautiful outdoor spaces that are perfect for a laid-back wedding ceremony and celebrations. There’s also this really nice rustic side to it too, with farmhouse-style areas, barn doors, and loads of character, which makes it an ideal Derbyshire wedding venue for natural, storytelling wedding photography.
It also helps that the bridal suite is one of my all-time favourites to shoot in. There’s just no bad angle in there at all. From the four-poster bed to the soft natural light pouring in from multiple directions, it’s basically made for wedding morning prep photos. Add in the views over the Derbyshire countryside and it’s pretty much perfect for those calm, behind-the-scenes moments before everything kicks off.
Amy was super relaxed on the morning of the wedding, just really chilled and enjoying the build-up with all the kids she’s cared for as a nanny joining her during prep. That made the morning feel extra special—there was such a clear bond there, and it was lovely to see them all involved and part of the day in such a natural way. Amy looked incredible too, with a really effortless boho vibe—an undone updo, soft floral touches, and a simple flowing wedding dress that just suited her perfectly. The bridesmaids carried that same feel through with their stunning blue dipped-dye dresses, which worked so well with the whole relaxed, bohemian style of the day.
The outdoor ceremony under the bandstand was honestly spot on. The sun was out, the setting felt really intimate, and the whole thing just had this easy, happy energy to it. After the ceremony, everyone headed back down the aisle with confetti flying everywhere, which always makes for such a great moment to capture—proper joy, no overthinking it.
The rest of the day was all about being outside, celebrating, and just enjoying the space. The kids were having the best time with the garden games and hanging out in the teepee area, which gave them somewhere to chill and play. Everything about the day felt really well thought out without ever feeling over-planned or staged. Amy & Jay chose Shottle Hall perfectly for that relaxed outdoor Derbyshire wedding vibe, and it really just worked in every way.
