Lake District Wedding photographer
There’s just something about a Lake District wedding that hits differently. The landscapes up there are unreal—rolling hills, lakes in every direction, and views that genuinely make you stop for a second. As a Lake District wedding photographer, it’s one of those places where you’re never short of an incredible backdrop. Honestly, you could turn in any direction and find a spot that works perfectly for natural, relaxed wedding photos.
It’s easy to see why so many couples choose the Lake District for their wedding day. Whether it’s an intimate elopement by the water, a countryside ceremony tucked into the hills, or a bigger celebration with friends and family, the setting just adds something extra. The light, the space, the atmosphere—it all comes together to create wedding photography that feels effortless, scenic, and full of life. If you’re planning a Lake District wedding, you’re already halfway to having something pretty special.
Weddings in the Lake District always feel that bit more special to me. I’ve been lucky enough to not only photograph quite a few up there, but also act as a witness for some couples too, which is such an honour and definitely something that sticks with you. There’s just something about being part of a Lake District wedding that feels a bit more personal, especially with those smaller, more intimate celebrations.
It’s also the perfect setting if you’re planning something a bit more modern or non-traditional. The Lake District has so many different options when it comes to wedding venues—everything from cosy country hotels to lakeside tipis with a proper festival vibe. Whether you’re going for a relaxed elopement, a laid-back outdoor ceremony, or a full weekend celebration, there’s loads of choice, and every setting comes with that incredible scenery as standard.
As a Lake District wedding photographer, it’s one of those places that just works so well for natural, documentary-style photography. You’ve got the space, the light, and the atmosphere to create something that feels really true to you, without needing to force anything. It’s all there—you just get to enjoy it.
intimate Lake District weddings
If you’re planning a smaller, more intimate wedding in the Lake District and looking for a photographer to capture it all in a relaxed, natural way, you’re in the right place. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph loads of these smaller celebrations across the Lakes, from just the two of you right through to a handful of your favourite people. However you’re choosing to do it, these kinds of weddings always have something really special about them.
There’s a different kind of energy to a Lake District intimate wedding—quieter, more personal, and focused on what actually matters. Whether you’re saying your vows by the water, up in the hills, or at one of the many beautiful Lake District wedding venues, it’s all about the connection and the experience rather than the scale. That’s what makes them so meaningful to photograph.
As a Lake District wedding photographer, it’s genuinely an honour to be part of these days. You get to witness something really real and capture it in a way that feels honest and true to you. No big production, no pressure—just a relaxed, beautiful celebration in one of the most incredible locations in the UK.
What usually happens during an elopement?
I offer dedicated photography packages for smaller, more intimate weddings, designed to keep things simple and relaxed while still covering everything that matters. Most of these days tend to run for around two to three hours, which is usually the perfect amount of time to document the key parts—morning prep (if you’re having it), the ceremony itself, and some natural, laid-back portraits afterwards.
Because these kinds of Lake District weddings are more focused on the two of you (and maybe a small group of your favourite people), the pace is completely different to a big traditional wedding. There’s more time to slow things down, take it all in, and actually enjoy the moment without feeling rushed. The focus naturally sits on the ceremony and your time together, which makes for really honest, meaningful photography.
Portraits tend to be a bit more of a feature too, but still in a really relaxed, unposed way. With extra time on your side, we can explore a couple of different spots—whether that’s by the lakeside, up in the hills, or around your venue—making the most of the incredible Lake District scenery. It’s all about keeping things easy, flexible, and true to you, while creating a set of images that properly reflect your day.

Non-traditional Lake District Wedding
If you’re planning a bigger Lake District wedding but still want to do things your own way, then we’ll probably get on pretty well. I’m a Lake District wedding photographer who’s all about those non-traditional days—the ones that don’t follow a set formula and feel a bit more like you. The Lakes is honestly one of the best places to make that happen too, with so many options that go way beyond the standard wedding setup.
You could be jumping on a boat straight after your ceremony, heading off for portraits with those unreal mountain views, or going all in with a festival-style tipi wedding surrounded by the landscape. There’s loads of freedom when it comes to planning a wedding in the Lake District, and that’s what makes it so exciting. Whether you’re keeping things relaxed and outdoorsy or just mixing things up a bit, it all works here.
My approach to wedding photography fits right into that kind of day as well—nothing too posed, nothing forced, just capturing everything as it naturally unfolds. The energy, the atmosphere, the little moments in between—it’s all part of the story. At the end of the day, it’s your wedding, your rules. Do it your way, lean into what feels right for you, and I’ll be there to document it all in a way that feels real, fun, and completely true to your day.
