Natural wedding photography Manchester - Clare Robinson Photography_0283.jpg

Tami and I first spoke on the phone a few months before her big day and being a fellow Northerner, we clicked straight away. They both wanted to throw many wedding traditions straight out the window and set their own rules. The biggest tradition that got binned was staged photographs, Tami was adamant that she didn’t want any formal group photos nor any couple portraits of her and Tom together. So, we agreed that I would follow them proper paparazzi style with my long lens and I was pleasantly surprised at the range of fabulous photos we got from natural moments of them being together.

Tami and Tom were quite alternative in the no staged photos rule, but it worked well with their extremely personal and fun day. The humanist ceremony was truly beautiful, it was lovely to find out so much about them as a couple and it was hard not to shed a tear as they read their own vows to each other. Also, how much does the celebrant look like Santa? You couldn’t have picked a better person to guide you to becoming Mr & Mrs.

When Tami was chatting to me about her big day, she was saying how she didn’t want people to dress all posh and that to come casual and that included me too. You can imagine I was slightly puzzled, and I didn’t rock up in my jeans, but it soon dawned on me as we moved our way through the day what she meant by it, it was for a RELAY RACE! That’s right, think back to those school days where you had to don a coloured bib, run for your life and pass a baton? Well this was very similar, but it was a ‘Wild things relay’ which meant that the guests had to dress up, with no vision, just a walkie talkie with another team member giving them directions on where to go and what to do. Even the slight rain didn’t stop this race from happening and it was absolutely HILARIOUS to say the least.

Talton Lodge and House in Stratford-Upon-Avon was the perfect venue for this alternative couple and their fun wedding plans. The lovely outdoor ceremony at the back of the house surrounded by gardens and fields of sheep was perfectly intimate and fabulous. A quick hop over the road and you are at the huge Tipi, which is the perfect space for weddings that want to break with tradition and carve their own rules.

Tami and Tom, stay fabulous you crazy pair! It was epic, and I’m glad to have been there to capture the fun!
