South of France Vineyard Wedding Photographer

Claudia & Wijnand’s wedding was simply stunning. Set within the beautiful vineyard landscape of Claudia’s family property - a working vineyard – in Cahors. A lovely town on the Lot river in the Southern region of France.

Claudia knew how she wanted her day to look, with beautiful pastel round balloons, handwritten chalk boards, wine barrels, ribbons floating during the ceremony to name a few. Sarah Thomas of ‘And Then we got Married’ helped Claudia pull all the styling of the wedding together, awesome job Sarah!

I arrived the day before the wedding with my husband – aka chauffeur – and we came to do a recce of the property and to introduced ourselves to Claudia, Wijnand and their family who were the most welcoming may I add. I knew in the first few minutes we were going to be a dream team as we got on with each other so well.

The wedding day came, and it was soooooo HOT, thank god the wine cellar was bloody cold as it was a lifesaver at times. Claudia was so chilled out on the morning; her mother had already done her hair and she was going for a real timeless look which was also perfect for the hot weather. Everyone was so chilled out and having a fab time, it was either the sun, the setting or that it was a real intimate wedding. Even with the language barrier – they were Dutch – I was still able to have my witty banter with the guests.

Claudia & Wijnand threw tradition out of the window by having a first look, followed by their portraits before the ceremony, and they didn’t have a first dance either, and their day was just EPIC! It goes to show how doing your own thing rather than following traditions because you feel you should, can be just as awesome.
